Babcock University Inducts 93 New Doctors in Ceremony of Achievement

Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo, Ogun State, celebrated the graduation of 93 newly trained medical doctors during its ninth induction ceremony held on September 24, 2024. The event marked a significant milestone for the graduates, who were officially inducted into the medical profession by Dr. Fatima Kyari, Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), represented by Prof. Olusegun Akinyinka.

The ceremony was a culmination of six years of rigorous training, and many graduates expressed their joy at achieving this important career milestone. Among the inductees, 25 distinguished students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance, including Treasure Nnaji, who emerged as the best graduating student with nine distinctions.

Addressing the new doctors, Dr. Kyari emphasized the importance of ethical practice in medicine, urging them to remain committed and focused as they embark on their professional journeys. She highlighted that while medical practice may not always be financially rewarding, it holds significant respect in society due to its impact on human lives.

"You have acquired knowledge, but now you must apply it practically," she advised. "Integrity should be your guiding principle, and you must always uphold the values of compassion and confidentiality."

Babcock University President and Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ademola Tayo, commended the graduates for their dedication and hard work, encouraging them to continue pursuing excellence in their future endeavors.

Guest speaker Dr. Ebere Okereke, a public health physician from the UK, reinforced the need for perseverance in the face of challenges, urging graduates to contribute meaningfully to the medical profession and society.

Class representative Dr. Mogbekeloluwa Abikoye expressed gratitude to God, the university, and their families for the support that led to their successful graduation. The event was attended by dignitaries, including the immediate past governor of Abia State, Mr. Okezie Ipeazu, and other prominent figures who celebrated the accomplishments of the new doctors.
