Adama, a Law graduate with a Cumulative Gross Point Average (CGPA) of 4.87, revealed that she was not an exceptional student growing up and was even considered a dullard by one of her teachers. However, the loss of her mother before she entered university motivated her and her siblings to work harder and be diligent in their pursuits.

She urged her colleagues to put diligence at the centre of their various endeavours in life.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the university, Dr Bode Ayorinde, commended the graduands for their hard work and perseverance. He encouraged them to demonstrate the leadership attributes they had imbibed as students of the university and to exhibit good conduct in their walks of life.

Ayorinde promised that the university would continue to provide a serene and aesthetically beautiful campus and other ancillary services to make teaching and learning conducive. He also assured that the institution’s council would continue to encourage academic staff to embark on innovative, impactful, and result-oriented research.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Omolola Irinoye, announced that degrees would be awarded to 554 graduates, including 520 first degree graduates and 34 postgraduates. Of the graduating class, 37 achieved First Class honours, 259 had Second Class Upper Division, 195 were in Second Class Lower Division, and 27 had Third Class Honour.

Irinoye also revealed that the university has received permission to run 11 new academic programmes, including Medicine and Surgery, increasing its undergraduate degree programmes to 38. She added that for the 2023/2024 academic session, the university’s council had made provision for scholarships to many young people.
