FULafia Muslims Hold Annual Ramadan Lecture

The Muslim community of Federal University of Lafia (MUFULafia) recently held its second annual Ramadan lecture, themed "Practical Application of Ramadan Lessons for Global Harmony and Peaceful Coexistence."
The event, chaired by Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, Vice Chancellor of FULafia, brought together notable personalities, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) and Provost of FULafia Medical College, Prof. Ali Ishaq Shugaba, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Partnerships) and convener of the event, Prof. Samaila Dakyes.
In his opening remarks, Abdul Rahman emphasized the timeliness of the lecture, coinciding with the last ten days of Ramadan. He encouraged attendees to engage deeply with the lecture and apply its teachings in their daily lives.
The guest lecturer, Prof. Abdullahi Adamu Sulaiman, Director of Research and Development at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), highlighted the importance of fasting as a tool for self-discipline and self-control. He emphasized the role of Ramadan in promoting economic justice, social welfare, and forgiveness.
Sulaiman summarized the core lessons from his lecture, asserting that self-restraint leads to peaceful societies, charity fosters social equity, and forgiveness nurtures reconciliation. He called on participants to practice patience, kindness, and educate themselves about other faiths and cultures.
The Chief Imam of FULafia, Prof. Muhammad Tanko Aliyu, described the lecture as a direct call to action, emphasizing that Islam is a religion of peace with Allah, oneself, and others.
