Benue State University (BSU) VC prof Tor Iorapuu inspects Female Hostel, Bread Bakery and Printing Press projects, others
It will be recalled that Governor Ortom on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 approved the appointment of Professor Tor Joe Iorapuu as the 6th Vice-Chancellor of the first State University in Northern Nigeria established by Governor Moses Orshio Adasu.
And so, it is two years today since that profound pronouncement of the Visitor.
Two years ago, upon hearing the radio announcement, Professor Iorapuu ran to the Church for Thanksgiving. Today, in remembrance of this epic day, Iorapuu quietly went to Church this afternoon and thereafter, to amazement of all, went straight to inspect some projects that began during his tenure as well as facilities affected by flood.
The projects visited include: the Faculty of Science, University Water works, Metal Fencing and landscaping of Female Hostel (Western Wing), Workshop Building Block, Bread Bakery and Printing Press Sections at the Entrepreneurship Centre.
The Vice-Chancellor also visited the Academic Building block were he inspected the installation of Elevator Machine, electrical fittings, landscaping and other installations.
Professor Iorapuu urged the Contractors handling the various projects to work hard and ensure that they execute the projects according to specifications and within the time frame of the contractual agreement.
As a matter of fact, the Vice-Chancellor is hopeful that most of these projects will be commissioned in November to commemorate his formal taking over as the 6th VC of BSU.
As always demonstrated, the Vice-Chancellor was very particular about the condition of the students classrooms as well as the hostels. Hopefully, students will return to occupy one of the new hostels in the Eastern Wing of the campus.
But even more exciting, was the inspection of the BSU printing Press where a test Production of the 2023 Almanac was presented to the Vice-Chancellor and the BSU Bakery, where the VC bought quality bread for himself and his staff. "Shange la mwem" as the Tiv People would humbly say or you can choose to say, "little drops of water make an ocean."
Prof. Iorapuu congratulations today and always. Now that activities are returning gradually, we trust your desire and speed. You have zero tolerance for lazy minds. True, we cannot afford to cause any further delay in getting to our desired destination as a university of first Choice.
