BUK Celebrates Return of Ex-ES NUC, Prof Rasheed, Organizes Grand Reception
The University organized a grand reception to celebrate his home coming as a large gathering comprising former Vice Chancellors, current Principal Officers, Provosts, Deans, Directors and Heads of Department and other members of the University came together at the famous BUK’s Convocation Arena.

Bayero University, Kano on Saturday, 8th July, 2023 celebrated the return of the immediate past Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed to the University after spending seven years in the commission.
The University organized a grand reception to celebrate his home coming as a large gathering comprising former Vice Chancellors, current Principal Officers, Provosts, Deans, Directors and Heads of Department and other members of the University came together at the famous BUK’s Convocation Arena.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas said the university was indeed pleased to welcome the immediate past NUC Executive Secretary whom he described as a trail blazer and architect of modern BUK.
He said Bayero University would benefit immensely from the wealth of experience of Prof Rasheed especially now that the University has focused its attention towards attaining excellence.
In his remarks, the celebrant, Professor Abubakar Rasheed said he was moved by the positive encomiums showered on him by members of the University management. He explained that he still had 3 years and one month to complete his tenure in office but decided to withdraw and return to classroom. “I have missed classroom greatly and now that I am back, I will continue to render my services to the University,” said Prof Rasheed
Earlier in his welcome address, Chairman of the occasion and former Vice Chancellor of BUK, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello said the university was excited to formally welcome Prof Rasheed to its fold having spent 7 years in NUC.
He said Prof Rasheed had during his tenure as Vice Chancellor made indelible footprints in almost all facets of the University and impacted positively on the university system in Nigeria while in NUC.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the Chief Imam of Kano and a former Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Sani Zahraddeen,, Vice Chancellor, Al-Istiqama University, Professor Salisu Shehu, former ASUU National President, Dr Nasiru Isa Fagge, former Registrar, Dr. Sani Amin Ibrahim, Secretary to the Kano State Government, Dr Abdullahi Bichi and.. Prof S.B Ahmad.
