BUK SUG Demands Urgent Investigation and Action Following Lecturer’s Mistreatment of Pregnant Student
The Students Union Government (SUG) at Bayero University Kano (BUK) has called for an urgent investigation into the mistreatment of a pregnant student by a lecturer in the School of Continuing Education.
The Students Union Government (SUG) of Bayero University Kano, led by President Nasir Ibrahim, popularly known as "Aluta Professor," has taken swift action in response to an incident involving the alleged mistreatment of a pregnant student by a lecturer in the Department of Sociology, School of Continuing Education (SCE).
In a formal letter addressed to the Director of the SCE, the SUG expressed deep concern over the lecturer's reported misconduct, which involved asking a pregnant student to kneel as punishment. The union is demanding an immediate investigation into the matter to ascertain the facts and hold the lecturer accountable if found guilty.
The SUG is also advocating for disciplinary measures to be taken against the lecturer and has called for support and protection to be provided to the affected student. "This issue is of great importance to us as it undermines the dignity of our students, particularly those who are vulnerable," the SUG President stated.
The union remains committed to ensuring justice and upholding the rights of students within the university community.
