The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) sensitizes Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) community on the use of E-Naira, indulging so much on the benefits.
The Central Bank of Nigeria has sensitized the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA community on the benefits of the E-naira, Nigeria's digital currency. The sensitization programme took place during a courtesy visit of the CBN team to the university management on Monday July 3.2023.
Speaking at the programme the Deputy Director /Acting branch controller, Mr. Samuel Giwa said the E-naira has the potential to revolutionize the way people transact and conduct business as it is not just any currency but it is designed to complement the existing physical Naira and make for a more efficient, secure and accessible means of payment.
He stated that there are benefits accessible to people with the use of E-naira. The benefits include convenience, enhanced security and financial inclusion, Efficiency, Transparency and Economic Growth.
He urged the FUTA community to take advantage of this opportunity to revolutionize the financial landscape and to adopt E-naira for the collection of fees, levies and revenue within the institution. He said, "I encourage all businesses operating within our university to follow suit and embrace the E-naira. By doing so, we not only enhance our financial well-being, we also contribute to the broader goal of economic growth in Nigeria".
The Vice Chancellor ,Professor Adenike Oladiji, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Timothy Amos said E-naira has enormous benefits which many would be able to benefit from. He pointed out that the E-naira program and agenda should be geared towards the youths as they are innovative and constitute a large portion of Nigeria's population. The Vice Chancellor assured the CBN that the students of FUTA would embrace the E-naira because FUTA students are vibrant, active and digitally and technologically savvy.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Professor David Olarenwaju also promised the Deputy Director Ag of CBN that they will not be disappointed as FUTA students don't shy away from new inventions and innovations, rather they embrace it. He went further to appreciate the efforts of the Vice Chancellor and the Bursary for all their contributions towards the growth and development of the institution.
