CBN urges kaduna state polytechnic to embrace eNaira

The Branch Controller, CBN Kaduna State, Muhammad Aminu, noted that the eNaira was designed to complement the existing physical Naira and to provide a more efficient, secure, and accessible means of payment.

Aminu, who spoke during a sensitization drive on the eNaira wallet by the apex bank at the Tudun-Wada main campus of Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna, said, the exercise was to sensitise students and other stakeholders on the need to embrace the eNaira platform.

According to him, the eNaira, launched with fanfare by President Muhammadu Buhari on October 25, 2021, has the potential to revolutionise the way “we transact and conduct business.”

He said, “The eNaira is not really new, as you are aware. It was launched on October 25, 2021, precisely. Since then, we have been on this campaign. We at the CBN Kaduna Branch, are trying to optimise the usage and acceptability of the eNaira.

“I am thrilled to stand before you today and talk to you about an incredible development that can directly impact each and every one of you – the eNaira, Nigeria’s very own digital currency.

“The eNaira is not just any currency; It is designed to complement the existing physical Naira and to provide a more efficient, secure, and accessible means of payment.

“By embracing the eNaira, we position ourselves at the forefront of progress, fostering a thriving economic environment.

“Considering the multitude of benefits associated with the eNaira, I strongly urge The Kaduna Polytechnic, to adopt this for the collection of fees, levies, and revenues within our institution.

“The eNaira is safe, convenient, and accessible, and it complements existing electronic payment systems rather than replacing them.

“Together, let us embrace the eNaira, improve financial inclusion, and drive economic prosperity for our Polytechnic community and beyond.”

Meanwhile, the management of the institution, through its Bursar, Mohammed Sule Ahmed, commended the CBN for the initiative and assured of the institution’s support in promoting the use of the platform for transactions.

He said: “We are moving towards the digital era. So, the sensitization is of great importance to Kaduna Polytechnic because this will give the staff and students the opportunity to know what the eNaira is all about to be able to reduce business transactions with cash.

“The management is ready if all the regulatory bodies accept the eNaira as a means of payment. We are ready to accept it and promote it.”
