The event marked two decades since their graduation, and it was a joyous occasion filled with heartfelt memories and reflections on the journeys they have each undertaken since leaving their alma mater.
As attendees gathered at the Precious Event Centre in Makurdi, the atmosphere was electric with excitement. Old friends and classmates were reunited, many of whom had not seen each other since their university days. The reunion was especially meaningful for one alumnus, now serving as the Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, who was overjoyed to reconnect with his former coursemates.
"It was truly heartwarming to see everyone again after so many years," he shared. "Despite the different paths we've all taken since graduation, this reunion was a reminder of the strong bonds we formed during our time at the university."
During the dinner, the Minister expressed his deep gratitude to God for His protection and guidance over the years. He also led the group in a moment of reflection, offering prayers for the souls of their departed coursemates, who were fondly remembered.
Reflecting on his journey since graduation, the Minister shared his career highlights, which include serving as a lecturer, Commissioner for Water Resources and Environment in Benue State, Executive Director of Engineering at Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority Makurdi, Pioneer Rector of Federal Polytechnic Wannune, and now his current role as Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation. He emphasized his commitment to supporting his fellow alumni and assured them that his doors are always open for any ideas and suggestions that could help him succeed in his role.
Earlier in the event, Jerome Onaivi, President of the Class of '98 Alumni Association, highlighted the importance of the reunion as an opportunity to share experiences, reminisce about their university days, and strengthen the network they have built over the years.
The reunion concluded with an award ceremony, where the Minister and several other members of the Class of '98 were honored for their achievements and contributions to their alma mater. The event was a testament to the enduring friendships and shared experiences that continue to bind the alumni of Joseph Saawuan Tarka University, Makurdi, as they look back on their journey and celebrate their successes together.
