CMU-Africa, Afretec Invite Research Proposals for $30,000 Digital Transformation Grants
Carnegie Mellon University Africa (CMU-Africa), in collaboration with the African Engineering and Technology Network (Afretec), has invited bold and collaborative research proposals aimed at driving inclusive digital transformation across Africa.
Carnegie Mellon University Africa (CMU-Africa), in collaboration with the African Engineering and Technology Network (Afretec), has invited bold and collaborative research proposals aimed at driving inclusive digital transformation across Africa.
The research grant will provide funding of up to $30,000 USD per project for a period of 12 months, beginning February 1, 2027. Approximately eight grants will be awarded.
Who Should Apply?
• Teams led by Principal Investigators from at least two Afretec member universities.
• At least one of the newest Afretec partners must lead the project. The eligible universities are:

Early-career researchers are particularly encouraged to apply, alongside projects that promote inclusive excellence.

• Manufacturing

• Waste Systems
• Water Systems
Projects addressing the needs of women, youth, people with disabilities, refugees and displaced persons are strongly encouraged.
