North America Branch of the College CMUL Alumni association branch honours ANUPA Chairman with outstanding Service Award.

The North America Branch of the College of Medicine (CMUL), University of Lagos (UNILAG) Alumni Association has honoured the Ag. Chairman of Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA), UNILAG Branch, Mr. Olakunle Babatunde, with the Outstanding Service Award.

Delivered by the immediate past president of the North America Branch and a member of the 1984 Alumni Set, Dr. Adedeji Adefuye, the award was recently presented to Mr Babatunde at the office of the Provost of the College of Medicine, Prof. David Oke, FAMeds.

According to Dr. Adefuye, the Outstanding Service Award was given to Mr. Babatunde in recognition of his selfless service, dedication, and commitment to the College of Medicine Alumni Association and the North America Chapter, while serving as the Administrative Head of the Alumni Relations, Advancement and Endowment Unit in the Office of the Provost.

Dr. Adefuye gave a brief background about the formation of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos Alumni Association, North America Branch, and acknowledged the concerted efforts being made by members of the Branch to raise funds for the infrastructure development of the College and the improvement of teaching-learning experience. He highlighted the immense opportunities that abound outside the shores of Nigeria and suggested ways by which the College could benefit.

He further acknowledged the immediate past Provost of the College of Medicine, Professor Afolabi Lesi, for initiating the relationship between the College of Medicine and the North America Branch of the Alumni Association. In appreciation of that and on behalf of the association, he presented him with the Outstanding Leadership Award, which was received on his behalf by the incumbent, Professor David Oke.

The Provost, Prof. David Oke, informed the visiting alumnus about ongoing efforts to improve funding and infrastructure at the College. He expressed gratitude to Dr. Adefuye for providing useful information on ways to move the College of Medicine forward.

To reciprocate the gesture of honour, the Provost also presented the Recognition and Outstanding Leadership Award to Dr. Adefuye as one of the five (5) alumni recipients selected by the North America Branch of CMUL Alumni Association to receive awards at the MediLag Fundraising Dinner and Award Night held in December 2022 at the Civic Centre, Lagos, Nigeria.

Thereafter, Dr. Adefuye was taken around the CMUL, Idi-Araba campus to see ongoing  projects such as: the newly refurbished Main Auditorium, the Tafawa Balewa Plaza, the Kesington Adebutu Research Centre (KARC), Iconic Building, Visitors’ Lodge, Kesington Adebutu Telemedicine Booth, and the Student Hostel Development Facility.
