The Chairman of the Concerned Citizens of Njimtilo Community, Mr. Luqman Yusuf, has led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Borno State University (BOSU), Professor Babagana Gutti.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Luqman congratulated the Vice-Chancellor and expressed the community’s gratitude for the employment opportunities given to their less privileged members as securities personnel and cleaners in the university.

He commended the Vice-Chancellor for his community-friendly leadership and urged him to sustain the gesture.

Mr. Luqman also appealed for more support in the area of education, noting that many children in Njimtilo do not value formal education, while their schools are faced with shortages of teachers and classroom furniture.

He therefore called on the Vice-Chancellor to use his good office to support and encourage enrolment of children into schools, stressing that education is key to community development.

In his response, Professor Gutti warmly welcomed the delegation and assured them of his continued support. He emphasized that security, education, and economic empowerment remain key priorities for any community and pledged to contribute towards addressing Njimtilo’s challenges.

The Vice-Chancellor further promised to liaise with the education secretary to strengthen schools in the area and to discuss with the Executive Governor the possibility of establishing another school in Njimtilo. He also encouraged parents to prioritize the education of their children, stressing that ignorance was one of the root causes of insurgency.

Professor Gutti revealed plans to support the community with solar boreholes for schools and improved teaching staff, alongside measures to boost security within the area.

He urged continuous collaboration between the university and the community for sustainable development.
