COOU VC Strengthens Ties with Honorary Doctorate Recipients in Abuja
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) has reaffirmed its commitment to building stronger partnerships between academia and the private sector as the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, fnipr, led a delegation on courtesy visits in Abuja to two distinguished honorary doctorate recipients of the institution, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi and Mr. Allen Ifechukwu Onyema.

During the visit to Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Group Executive Vice Chairman of SIFAX Group, Prof. Omenugha praised his outstanding contributions to national development, philanthropy, and support for education, describing him as a role model whose achievements continue to inspire the younger generation. She emphasized the University’s readiness to deepen collaboration with corporate leaders whose values align with COOU’s vision for innovation and societal impact.

At the meeting with Mr. Allen Onyema, Chairman of Air Peace, Prof. Omenugha commended his patriotic initiatives in the aviation sector and his selfless interventions in humanitarian services. She noted that Onyema’s leadership and commitment to Nigeria’s unity reflect the values COOU seeks to instill in its students.

Both honorary doctorate recipients expressed appreciation for the University’s recognition of their efforts and pledged continuous support towards advancing the institution’s mission. Prof. Omenugha stressed that COOU would continue to strengthen its relationship with such distinguished Nigerians as a way of fostering meaningful partnerships that enhance teaching, research, and community service.
