Covenant University Enactus Team Honored by Vice-Chancellor for Prestigious Awards and Sustainable Innovation

Covenant University Enactus team recently paid a visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, to present two notable awards won for their impactful projects. The team secured third place in the Access Coronation Trust Fund (ACT Fund) competition and received a Semi-Finalist Award from the previous year’s Enactus Nationals.

Covenant University Enactus team recently paid a visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, to present two notable awards won for their impactful projects. The team secured third place in the Access Coronation Trust Fund (ACT Fund) competition and received a Semi-Finalist Award from the previous year’s Enactus Nationals.

During the visit, team leader Umurie Stephen Nsikak, a fifth-year Mechanical Engineering student, shared the significance of the awards, highlighting the year-long evaluation process that led to their recognition. The awards were announced on July 23, 2024, at the Civic Center in Victoria Island, Lagos. Nsikak also acknowledged the financial support provided by the Poly-Allyl-Diglycol Carbonate (PADC), which helped the team advance its projects.

Expressing his pride in the team’s achievements, Vice-Chancellor Professor Adebayo commended the Enactus faculty advisors, Dr. Dania O. Elizabeth from the Biochemistry department and Dr. Emmanuel O. Efe-Imafidon from Business Management, alongside the student leadership team, which includes Nsikak and fellow members Ovwigho Great Oghenekaro (Business Administration), Emmanuel Benson (Electrical Electronics), Isaac Ochigbo (Computer Engineering), and Tirenioluwa Owogboga Odey (Electrical Electronics). He praised their dedication to service and encouraged the team to pursue more sustainable and socially impactful projects, pledging the university's continued support.

Dr. Efe-Imafidon, Business Management Faculty Adviser, expressed gratitude for the support provided by the university’s management, promising to build on the team’s accomplishments. Dr. Dania also conveyed her appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and committed to further enhancing the team's performance in future competitions.

The team’s award-winning project, "Nitroeoth," is an organic fertilizer derived from livestock blood, offering an eco-friendly alternative that addresses environmental concerns and promotes sustainable agricultural practices. This innovation aligns with Enactus Covenant University’s mission to tackle climate challenges and create sustainable solutions for communities.
