Nasarawa State University, Keffi, is set to launch the International Centre of Excellence for Migration and Humanitarian Development Studies (ICEMIDS) in collaboration with NCFRMI in 2025.

NSUK to Launch International Centre for Migration and Humanitarian Studies Academic Programs in 2025

The International Centre of Excellence for Migration and Humanitarian Development Studies (ICEMIDS), a landmark initiative of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), in partnership with the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), will commence academic activities in 2025.

This announcement was made by Hon. Tijjani Aliyu Ahmed, Federal Commissioner for NCFRMI, during a familiarization visit by NSUK’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman (FELLOW: UNESCO, ACLS, FIIFPN), to the Commission’s headquarters. He confirmed that funding for the Centre's construction has been included in the Commission's 2025 budget and commended NSUK's reputation as the ideal location for this project.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude for the Commission’s commitment and reaffirmed the university’s dedication to fulfilling its obligations under the signed Memorandum of Understanding.

The Centre, the first of its kind in Africa, will address critical migration and humanitarian development issues, offering programs such as:

  • Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
  • Professional Master’s (PMS)
  • Master of Science (M.Sc)
  • Master of Philosophy (M.Phil)
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)
