Cross River Assembly Calls for Investigation into Disappearance of Corps Member in Anambra

The Cross River House of Assembly has called for a thorough investigation into the disappearance of Dorcas Paul Ojong, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member from the state, who went missing while serving in Anambra State. 

On July 18, 2024, the assembly passed a resolution urging the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Director-General of the NYSC to take immediate action. The call for investigation was prompted by a motion from Mr. Okon Owuna, representing Akamkpa 1 constituency.

Owuna revealed that Ojong, an indigene of Akamkpa Local Government Area, has been missing since February 18, 2024. She was serving in Awka, Anambra, after completing her studies at the College of Health Technology, Calabar. Her NYSC Number is AN/2023/4309, and she was expected to complete her service in March.

According to Owuna, Ojong was last seen on her way to her primary assignment in Awka. Her disappearance has caused significant distress to her family, and the NYSC authorities have not yet taken effective steps to locate her.

Lawmakers expressed concern over the situation and called for an urgent investigation into the matter.
