 In a remarkable event aimed at empowering the next generation, the David Dickson Educational Foundation has awarded scholarships to seven outstanding undergraduate students from various tertiary institutions across Nigeria. This inaugural scholarship ceremony took place in Ibadan, marking a significant milestone for the foundation.

During the event, the Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Trustees, Dr. Andrew Jegede, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to giving back to society and making a positive impact on the lives of students. He stated, “Today, we are gathered not only to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our scholars but to recognize the hope that will shape our future.”

Dr. Jegede congratulated the scholarship recipients, highlighting that their achievements are not merely a recognition of academic excellence but also a testament to their determination and commitment to national growth. He expressed gratitude to the parents and guardians of the students, acknowledging their crucial role in nurturing ambition and supporting educational aspirations.

Daniel Dickson, speaking on behalf of the Dickson family, praised his late brother, David Dickson, whose legacy inspired the foundation. “David was a man of impact who believed that everyone has the potential to do something incredible given the right opportunity. This foundation is a testament to the kind of life he lived,” he said, expressing hope that the initiative would continue to touch lives as David did.

Funmi Adesigbin, in her welcome address, congratulated the beneficiaries, emphasizing their exceptional dedication and commitment to personal growth. She urged them to leverage the scholarship as an opportunity to pursue excellence and contribute positively to society.

Owodunni Olugbenga Joshua, a 300-level Pharmacy student from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), and Ogunsola Esther, a 300-level Political Science student from Tai Solarin University of Education, both expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the foundation for its support. Esther described the foundation as “a beacon of hope” for students facing similar challenges.
