During the two-day exercise, LASUSTECH Vice Chancellor, Professor Odusanya Olumuyiwa, emphasized the importance of tree planting for environmental protection and the development of a conducive learning atmosphere. He noted that the trees would not only provide shade but also contribute to the university's technological development by fostering a sustainable environment. "About 1,000 trees will be planted across the campus to protect human lives and the environment," Prof. Olumuyiwa stated.

Dr. Pamela Ajayi, Founder of The Dawn Project, highlighted the dual purpose of the initiative—preserving Nigeria’s indigenous trees and combating climate change. She noted the need to replace local trees that have been cut down over the years, stating, "We are donating 1,000 trees of various species to LASUSTECH to preserve our heritage and address climate change. Last year, we made a similar donation to the University of Lagos."

The university’s registrar, Mr. David Ogungbe, expressed appreciation for the donation and affirmed that the tree planting exercise would be sustained as part of LASUSTECH’s environmental stewardship efforts.
