Deaf Student Nehemiah Danjuma Earns LL.B. with Second Class (Upper) Honors from UNILORIN
Nehemiah Danjuma, a deaf student, celebrates his LL.B. degree from the University of Ilorin, exemplifying that ability transcends disability.
Nehemiah Danjuma has successfully completed his LL.B. Common Law degree from the University of Ilorin, achieving Second Class (Upper) Honors. His six-year journey has not only culminated in academic excellence but has also highlighted the strength and resilience of individuals with disabilities.
Nehemiah, who is deaf, has navigated the challenges of university life with tenacity. Throughout his studies, he served on various leadership boards, including representing students with disabilities as a Senator at the Students Union. He also held the position of Secretary of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Committee and was the National President of the National Association of Nigerian Deaf Students (NANDS).
His journey was fueled by the unwavering support of his family, friends, mentors, and teachers, which he gratefully acknowledged: “So grateful to God, family, friends, mentors, and teachers for the support throughout this journey!”
Nehemiah's aspirations extend beyond personal achievement. He aims to leverage his legal education to advocate for policies that foster equal opportunities and create an inclusive, accessible labor market for young people, particularly those with disabilities. He embodies the mantra, “There’s ability in disability,” and serves as an inspiration to many.
