MAAUN Medical Laboratory Science Department Hosts Expert Session on Biotechnology in Healthcare

The Department of Medical Laboratory Science at Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano, recently hosted an insightful online expert session titled “Biotechnology in Healthcare: Innovations and Applications.”

The virtual event featured Dr. Gunnjeet Kaur, Associate Dean at the School of Agricultural Sciences, Career Point University, India. As a distinguished academic and researcher, Dr. Kaur provided an in-depth analysis of biotechnology’s transformative role in modern healthcare.

During her presentation, she highlighted the development of genetically engineered insulin, emphasizing its impact on diabetes management. She also discussed advancements in vaccine development, showcasing how biotechnology has accelerated the creation of effective vaccines to combat global health challenges.

In his opening remarks, the Chair of the Medical Laboratory Science Department, Mal. Haruna Khalifa Idris, encouraged faculty members to leverage such sessions to enhance their knowledge and research capabilities. He underscored the significance of continuous learning and collaboration in driving healthcare innovations through biotechnology.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, allowing participants to engage with Dr. Kaur, seek clarifications, and gain deeper insights into various aspects of biotechnology in healthcare.

In her closing remarks, Khadija Salisu, a faculty member, expressed appreciation to Dr. Kaur for her valuable contributions. She also commended the organizers for putting together an informative event and acknowledged the active participation of attendees.
