The Department of Medical Laboratory Science at Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano, recently hosted an insightful online expert session titled “Biotechnology in Healthcare: Innovations and Applications.”

The virtual event featured Dr. Gunnjeet Kaur, Associate Dean at the School of Agricultural Sciences, Career Point University, India. As a distinguished academic and researcher, Dr. Kaur provided an in-depth analysis of biotechnology’s transformative role in modern healthcare.

During her presentation, she highlighted the development of genetically engineered insulin, emphasizing its impact on diabetes management. She also discussed advancements in vaccine development, showcasing how biotechnology has accelerated the creation of effective vaccines to combat global health challenges.

In his opening remarks, the Chair of the Medical Laboratory Science Department, Mal. Haruna Khalifa Idris, encouraged faculty members to leverage such sessions to enhance their knowledge and research capabilities.
