The Vice Chancellor of Delta State University, Abraka, Professor Andy Egwunyenga, has promised that the university will continue to uphold the culture of effective service delivery in line with SERVICOM’s mandate.

The university helmsman gave the reassurance today while playing host to the Senior Policy Adviser to the Delta State Governor and Coordinator of SERVICOM and Labour Relations in the state, Rt. Hon. Solomon Funkekeme, who led a team of top government functionaries to relaunch the SERVICOM Unit in the university.

Prof Egwunyenga pointed out that Delta State University places high premium on the principles of quality service delivery in line with the MORE Agenda of the state government and that the official relaunching of the SERVICOM Unit in the institution will give more prominence to the university’s efforts.

He equally informed the delegation that students’ and labour unions in the university are adequately accommodated in policy formulation and implementation to ensure that the interests of staff and students are protected in a bid to motivate them to render effective services.

The Vice Chancellor thanked Rt. Hon. Funkekeme for coming to revive the SERVICOM Unit in the university and praised him for his numerous contributions to public service, describing him as a worthy alumnus of the institution.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme thanked the Management of the University led by Prof. Egwunyenga for the good job in effectively and efficiently running the institution such that the state government has had no cause to worry. He pointed out that SERVICOM is not a new initiative having being inaugurated at the Federal level in 2004 and integrated by the Delta State Government in 2009.

The senior aide to the state governor pointed out that the principles of SERVICOM are critical to the achievement of the MORE Agenda of the Delta State Government which is geared towards providing meaningful development, opportunities, realistic reforms and enhanced peace and prosperity for all Deltans.

The highlight of the re-inauguration event was a dynamic session featuring representatives of students, labour, service units, and academics. This was followed by the presentation of a copy of the Executive Order from the Delta State Government on SERVICOM and materials showcasing the SERVICOM mantra to the Vice Chancellor for widespread distribution within the university.
