 Kwara State University (KWASU) celebrated Mr. Michael Oye Dada, a pioneering staff member of the Registry Department, as he retired from active service on Friday, August 23, 2024. The event honored Mr. Dada’s 32-year career in public service, including his significant contributions to KWASU.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh praised Mr. Dada’s exemplary professionalism, referring to him as "a thorough administrator" and a "dictionary of university administration." Professor Jimoh announced that Mr. Dada would be retained on a contract basis to mentor and train new staff members, ensuring the continuity of his invaluable expertise.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Moshood Mahmud Jimba, also highlighted Mr. Dada’s role as a "teacher of university administration matters." He recalled relying on Mr. Dada’s extensive administrative experience during his tenure as Dean of Student Affairs, underscoring the retiring staff member’s impact on the university’s governance.

Registrar Dr. Kikelomo Sallee commended Mr. Dada for his legacy of diligence and hard work, noting that he was the oldest and first staff member of the Registry Department to retire. Dr. Sallee praised his contributions to the university's administrative excellence and his dedication over the years.

In his response, Mr. Dada expressed deep gratitude to the university’s management and staff for the honor. He acknowledged that his extensive experience, gained from serving on various statutory committees, had sharpened his skills as an administrator. Mr. Dada assured the Vice-Chancellor of his continued availability to support and mentor staff as needed.

Popularly known as Deacon Dada, he joined KWASU’s Registry on October 27, 2009, and has since served in various capacities including the University Council, Senate, Human Resources, the School of Postgraduate Studies, and the Students Affairs Unit.

The retirement event was also graced by Mr. Dada’s family, including his wife, children, and grandchildren, who came to celebrate his remarkable career and contributions to KWASU.
