UDUS Reaffirms Ban on Religious Gatherings at Jubril Aminu Central Mosque
The Students' Affairs Division of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, UDUS, has reaffirmed its ban on religious meetings and gatherings at the Jibril Aminu Central Mosque, Permanent Site, except for the five daily prayers.
The directive was contained in a notice signed by the Dean of Students' Affairs, Professor Umar Zayannu, on August 7, 2026, addressed to all Muslim students on campus.

According to the notice, students and groups found violating the directive may face disciplinary action from the university.
However, the university clarified that existing programmes at the mosque are not affected by the directive. It added that any newly introduced meeting, gathering or programme must receive approval from the Dean of Students' Affairs before commencement.
The notice was copied to the Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellors, all deans and the Director of Security.
