A determined young man from Ghana, Sylvester Bekyellu, has graduated with first-class honors in Sociology from the University of Ghana, Accra, after sponsoring himself through school by working as a motorcycle rider.
Sylvester's journey to higher education was fraught with challenges. After his father's death when he was 17, Sylvester moved to Accra in search of better opportunities. He faced homelessness and had to sleep at a railway station, relying on a mosquito net provided by railway security.

To survive, Sylvester took on various menial jobs, including working as a bricklayer and salesboy. Despite developing abdominal pain from the heavy lifting, he persevered. His turning point came when a policeman encouraged him to further his education and suggested he work as a motorcycle rider, known locally as an "Okada," to fund his studies.
With his earnings from riding an Okada, Sylvester enrolled at the University of Ghana, pursuing a degree in Political Science and Sociology. Balancing work and studies, he maintained academic excellence and graduated with first-class honors.

Sylvester's colleagues at the Okada park expressed pride in his achievement, noting his determination and resilience, even after suffering an accident during his studies.
