Edo University Mandates CNG Conversion Training for Engineering Students

Edo University, Uzairue, has introduced a year-long industrial training program for students in chemical and mechanical engineering, focusing on the conversion of vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dawood O. Egbefo announced the initiative during its launch in Benin. The program aims to reduce fuel costs, enhance access to affordable transportation, create jobs, and support economic growth. It also seeks to lower carbon emissions and align with the vision of Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The training is a collaborative effort with the Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company (NIPCO), the Presidential Initiative on CNG, and the Edo Ministry of Mining and Energy. Prof. Egbefo expressed confidence that this partnership will benefit communities and support a sustainable future.
He highlighted the university's commitment to innovation and social responsibility, noting that Edo University is a prime destination for students due to its strike-free status and commitment to meeting academic needs.
