In a significant development, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has given the green light for the extension of the Independent Power Plant (IPP) project to encompass the grounds of Ekiti State University (EKSU) along Iworoko road in Ado Ekiti.

The announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Professor Bolaji Aluko, in Ado Ekiti. Professor Aluko highlighted that the connection to EKSU would be swiftly executed, considering the university's status as a major learning center and a key location in the state, hosting a substantial number of students and erudite staff.

Furthermore, Professor Aluko revealed that the State government, under Governor Oyebanji's directive, has facilitated a one-gigabyte-per-second free internet hub at the Oja Oba area in Ado Ekiti for the next year. Emphasizing that this free internet service is not limited to specific users, he affirmed its availability to all interested individuals in the area.

The Commissioner outlined the government's vision to extend the free internet facility to the newly constructed bus terminal and various parts of the State capital, transforming Ado Ekiti into a hub with well-maintained roads, street lights, and complimentary internet services.

In addition to these initiatives, Governor Oyebanji has also approved the construction of a 33kv transmission line from the 132/33kv substation at Omisanjana in Ado Ekiti through Iluomoba to Ijesha Isu and Ikole. Professor Aluko underscored that this strategic move is part of ongoing efforts to ensure a stable and consistent supply of electricity across the state.
