FUNAAB Ranks Among Nigeria's Top Federal Universities in 2026 THE World University Rankings
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has strengthened its standing in global higher education after emerging as the ninth-ranked federal university from Nigeria in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.

The achievement was disclosed in a statement by the Acting Head of the Directorate of Public Relations, Olasunkanmi Olajide, who said the latest ranking reflects the university's continued commitment to excellence in teaching, research and extension services.
According to the statement, only 24 universities from Nigeria, comprising federal, state and private institutions, were included in the prestigious global rankings out of more than 300 universities across the country.
Among the 17 federal universities that made the rankings, FUNAAB secured the ninth position, reinforcing its status as one of Nigeria's leading higher education institutions.
The university attributed the achievement to the collective efforts of its management, staff, students, alumni and other stakeholders in promoting academic excellence and conducting impactful research with global relevance.

Reacting to the performance of Nigerian universities, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, said the 2026 rankings reflect the positive impact of the Federal Government's Renewed Hope education reforms.
In a post on his official X account, the minister noted that Nigeria recorded its strongest performance in the rankings to date, with 24 universities gaining global recognition, up from 21 institutions in previous editions.
He also stated that Nigeria emerged as the most represented country in Sub-Saharan Africa in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
Congratulating the university community, Vice-Chancellor Professor Babatunde Kehinde commended staff, students, alumni and stakeholders for their dedication and commitment to sustaining FUNAAB's tradition of excellence.
He reaffirmed the university's commitment to strengthening its core mandates of teaching, research and extension services while pursuing greater international visibility, academic excellence and global impact.
