Ekiti State University Clarifies Ownership of Omolayo Hostel

The Management of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has clarified that the Omolayo Hostel, currently in a dilapidated state and featured in a viral TikTok video, does not belong to the institution.

In a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar and Head of Directorate of Information & Corporate Affairs, Dr. Bode Olofinmuagun, the university acknowledged the poor state of the building but emphasized that it is not within EKSU’s jurisdiction to renovate or manage the hostel, as it is located outside the university campus.

The Management, however, appreciated the philanthropic gesture of the Late Dr. Lawrence Omolayo, who built the facility, describing him as a highly respected figure whose contributions remain valuable. The statement further noted that while EKSU cannot interfere in the internal affairs of the Omolayo family, it is open to collaborating with them if they choose to rehabilitate the building.
