Mrs.Agada, who served her mandatory one-year national service in 2016, claims to have fulfilled all her service obligations without any disciplinary issues .Despite multiple visits to the NYSC FCT Secretariat with her newborn and relevant medical documents, her requests have been met with consistent rejection.
Her husband, Mr.Peter Agada, described their ordeal as frustrating and emotionally taxing. He revealed that the NYSC initially suggested an extension of service as punishment but failed to provide a place of primary assignment (PPA) for the extension.

The NYSC suggested an extension of service as a penalty, typically reserved for corps members who violate rules. However, Mrs. Agada was never reassigned to a Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) for the extension. “One man advised them against such punishment that it will amount to violation of my wife’s fundamental rights but they claimed that my wife’s file was missing and they started looking for it. Thereafter, they told us the file had been found and returned to the headquarters,” Mr.Agada said.
The couple further accused some NYSC officials of unprofessional conduct, alleging threats and intimidation during their pursuit of the discharge certificate.
The couple is now seeking legal redress to compel the NYSC to issue the discharge certificate.
