The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, May 27, 2026, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir (Eid-ul-Adha) celebration.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.

According to the Federal Government, the declaration reflects the importance attached to the religious festival, which holds deep spiritual significance for Muslims in Nigeria and across the world.

The Minister of Interior congratulated Muslim faithful both in Nigeria and in the diaspora, describing Eid-el-Kabir as a period dedicated to sacrifice, obedience to God, and compassion for humanity.
