Federal Government Declares September 27 as Public Holiday for Eid-el-Maulud Celebration

In honor of the sacred celebration of Eid-el-Maulud, which commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Wednesday, September 27, as a public holiday. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government in Abuja.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo conveyed his warmest congratulations to the Muslim Ummah, both within Nigeria and in the diaspora, on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud. He emphasized the significance of this celebration, which serves as a reminder of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad and his profound contributions to humanity.

He called upon them to join hands with the administration led by President Bola Tinubu in the collective effort to build a progressive and exemplary nation that all Nigerians can take pride in.
