Federal Government Extends School Feeding Programme to Cover Basic Education Levels

In a bid to enhance educational support and nutrition for school children nationwide, the Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to expand the Home Grown School Feeding Programme. Previously limited to primary schools, the programme will now encompass basic education levels across the country.
Dr. Folake Olatunji-David, the Director of Basic Education, unveiled this development during the launch and fundraiser of the Create that Change Development Initiative (CCDI) held in Abuja. Emphasizing the government's commitment to revamping the programme, Dr. Olatunji-David stated that it aligns with President Bola Tinubu's vision of advancing children's well-being and development.

The Executive Director of CCDI, Mrs. Sharon Ayeni, outlined the organization's mission to address educational challenges in Nigeria, introducing initiatives like the Enhancing Nutrition, Exercise, and Reading Initiative (ENERI).
Dr. Fidelis Elom, Chairman of the CCDI board of Trustees, highlighted the urgency of the programme's expansion, citing Nigeria's challenges, including conflicts and high youth unemployment rates. He emphasized the transformative potential of initiatives like ENERI in reshaping young lives nationwide.
