Federal Polytechnic Bauchi SUG Addresses Students Amid ASUP Strike

The Students Union Government (SUG) of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi (FPTB) has expressed concern over the two-week warning strike declared by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) on December 2, 2024.

In a statement signed by the SUG President, Comrade Haruna Uma, the union described the strike as a setback for students eager to resume academic activities but reassured students of its commitment to their welfare during this challenging period.

The SUG emphasized that despite the strike, certain activities within the institution will continue. These include the registration of new students and resit examinations, which remain unaffected as non-academic staff are still performing their duties.

ASUP's strike stems from unresolved demands made to the government, which have disrupted academic activities across polytechnics in Nigeria.

Students of FPTB and other affected institutions are hopeful for a quick resolution to enable the restoration of normal academic operations.

For now, the SUG continues to serve as a critical voice for the students and ensures that essential services remain accessible during the strike.
