Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas (FPOG) Bonny Elects 3 Congregation Representative In Governing Board

Three staff of the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny have been elected to represent congregation at the 4th Governing Council of the Polytechnic.

Three staff of the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny have been elected to represent congregation at the 4th Governing Council of the Polytechnic.

Those elected are two academic staff and one non-teaching staff as enshrined in the Polytechnic Act.

They include the Polytechnic Librarian Mr Albert Elejene, the immediate past Dean, School of Engineering Technology, Dr Naomi Ogolo of the Academics, Deputy Registrar and the Polytechnic Public Relations Officer, Harriet Ibituru Jamaica of Non-teaching staff department. 

In his remarks, the Acting Rector, Dr Victor Okolobah congratulated the newly elected Congregation Representatives in Governing Council and wished them well in their new assignment.

According to him, a similar election was held in the Academic Board where Dr. Fidelis Echendu and Dr Gabriel Osobonye Hart were elected to represent the Academic Board in the Governing Council.

The Polytechnic Don charged the newly elected members of Council to be more committed in serving the institution above selfish interest and ensure quality representation in key decision making.

He pointed that with these elections, the Governing Council would be properly constituted in line with the amended Polytechnic act 2019.

Speaking on behalf of the elected members from Congregation of the Governing Council, Mr Albert Elejene assured of quality and purposeful representation maintaining that the interest of staff and the Polytechnic Community will be given utmost priority.

The Polytechnic Librarian harped on the need for transparent accountability in institutional operations and unity of purpose to promote harmonious and productive work environment where staff feel valued, empowered and support to excel.

On her part, the Acting Registrar, Mrs Altina Boma-George expressed gratitude to all candidates who participated in the conduct of the elections adding that their passion and dedication to the institution is commendable and cannot be over emphasized.

Chairman and members of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit, an extension of Independent Corrupt Practices Commission were on ground to monitor and ensure full compliance with the election process.
