The Acting Rector, Dr Victor Okolobah, Management and Staff of Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny Marks the 10-year anniversary of the institution, making a decade of providing quality education and producing skilled professionals.

Over the past 10 years, the polytechnic has made significant strides in academic excellence, infrastructural development, and community engagement. 

Delivering his speech, Dr Victor Okolobah thanked God for his blessings that have been guiding the institution in the last ten years of existence, stating that staff members have shared their love, knowledge and faith with students who have turned out to be worthy citizens in the society with foundation to confront the challenges thrown at them by world outside the school environment.

He explained that it is with this great sense of gratitude that management resolved to embrace the occasion of the institution’s 10th year anniversary with open arms and hearts and with faith, truth and hope to succeed.

Dr Okolobah said it is by acknowledging what has happened in the past that they can readily sustain the zeal and passion to move on and urged members of staff to appreciate God for what they have undergone and be positive for what is yet to unfold which is the spirit behind the training offered at FPOG.

The Chief Accounting Officer disclosed plans for the forthcoming Maiden Convocation Ceremony in August, stressing that it will be a time to embrace relationships, achievement and handwork staff have put in to grow FPOG.

He further disclosed plans for Dinner night to reward excellence, long service, and dedication to work as well as loyalty which is the hallmarks that assist the institution in nurturing our students to meet the challenges of the twenty first century.

On their parts, pioneer staff of the Polytechnic were particularly impressed by the glamour added to the occasion by recognition given them for respective speech on their experiences at the teething age of the Polytechnic, challenges of pioneering and warm memories.

While expressing optimism that the Polytechnic will expand the frontiers of knowledge and service delivery for sustainable development, they were convinced beyond doubt that the magic wand for the significant milestone celebration is a fall out of determination, good will and purpose driven administration, which believes in doing what is worth doing at the nick of time, no matter the cost and prevailing circumstances.

They thanked the Management team led by Dr Victor Okolobah for their commitment to transforming the image of the Polytechnic in a recent times.

In her vote of thanks, the Registrar, Barr. Mrs. Altina Boma-George assured Management’s commitment to providing a conducive working environment and expansion of academic programs.

According to her, achievements recorded in the journey so far are a testament to the hard work and dedication of Management, staff and students, pointing that there are established partnerships with sister Polytechnics and International Oil Companies to provide students with opportunities for internships, research collaborations, and job placements.

Hihlight of the occasion includes prayers by the Dean, Bonny Deanery, Catholic Church, Rev. FR. Godspower Amele and the Chief Imam of Bonny, Barr. Sheikh Yusuf Lamis, and a minute silence for the late pioneer Rector, Prof Iyagba Tamuno.
