Federal University of Education Zaria Hosts COEASU Inter-College Examination Competition

The Federal University of Education (FUE), Zaria, hosted the COEASU Inter-College Examination Competition, featuring the best NCE students from 14 Colleges of Education in the North-Western zone. The event took place at the university's Information Communication Technology (ICT) Center.

The examination, supervised by Dr. Mustapher Sani Sumaila of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Bichi, Kano State, tested students on Education, General Studies, and Current Affairs. The participants were selected based on their CGPA, with 13 out of the 14 invited colleges attending.

Dr. Shehu Kabaka Muhammad, Zonal Coordinator from the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gusau, Zamfara State, explained that this is the first edition of the competition, which is sponsored by COEASU and will be held annually. He noted that the competition aims to identify and reward top-performing students with scholarships or financial support.

The competition was held simultaneously in the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, with each zone awarding a prize of N500,000 to its winner. The overall national winner will receive a grand prize of N1,000,000.

Nusaiba Auwal Barau from FCE Kumbotso emerged as the winner of the North-West zone after a tiebreaker against Safiya Yusuf from Kano State College of Education. Nusaiba secured her victory with 11 points, earning the N500,000 prize and the chance to represent the zone at the national level.

Notable attendees included Dr. Muawiyya Usman Haruna, former Vice President of FUE Zaria; Dr. Mansir Hashimu, Secretary of FUE Zaria; and Dr. Abdullahi Muhammad, Chairman of COEASU FCET Gusau, among others.
