FEDPOFFA: Building Tech. inducts 44 Graduands Into Building Institute

Department of Building Technology of the Federal Polytechnic Offa has inducted 44  of its 2022/2023 graduands into the Technologist Cadre of Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB).

Speaking at the second induction ceremony, the Rector, Engr. Dr.Kadiri Kamoru, FNSE, congratulated the inductees on the attainment of another milestone in their academic and professional journey. He urged them to brace up for the practice and ethical demands that the discipline of building will make of them

While commending the Department for granting the Students the opportunity, Dr. Kadiri harped on the need for both industry (the town) and the academia (the gown) to desist from working in silos. He admonished the industry players to scale up existing collaborations and forge new paths. Dr. Kadiri assured that the Polytechnic Management will continue to accord the department the necessary support to enable it turn out quality and professional builders into the society.

Addressing the inductees, the Former Chairman of NIOB, Ekiti State Chapter, Bldr. Dosunmu T. Segun, who represented the National President of NIOB, Bldr. (Sir) Alderton Ewa Ewa, FNIOB, administered the induction Oath on the students.

He congratulated the inductees and stated that the essence of the induction was to enable fresh graduates stay focused in life by introducing them to building practice earlier in their professional careers. Speaking further, he assured the readiness of the institute to partner with the Department of Building.

In his brief remarks, the Dean School of Environmental Studies, Bldr. J.O. Alabi, said the School would ensure that practicing members who had not registered with the institute but were domiciled in School of Environmental Studies (SOES) would be registered to enhance the growth of NIOB. He charged the inductees to be diligent in their duties while commending the Institute for offering to train the students to a reputable status.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Head of Building Department, Bldr. Aliyu S.F, commended the inductees for their resilience and determination to see their programme through to the end despite the challenges encountered.

His words, "It is a great pleasure to welcome you all today in this lecture theatre and to all those joining us online from around the world to celebrate the success of our inductees. My heartfelt congratulations goes to all the graduates on your professional achievements, I pray to Almighty Allah to elevate you more in all your endeavours. As you commence your professional journeys, I implore you to strive to represent the FEDPOFFA brand with excellence."

The Guest Lecturer, Bldr. Saka Gafar, who presented a paper on Professional Development and code of ethics of the institute, urged the inductees to embrace life-long learning. According to him, "Your graduation from the Building department is only the beginning of your journey. As you begin your journey into the building Profession today, you must realise that your education continues. A commitment to life-long learning is what will keep you updated and relevant in the industry. Add to that a dedication to ethics in your practice, and you will continue to soar," he added."

The second induction ceremony of the Department of Building tech was well attended, prominent among the guests were the Kwara State Chapter Chairman of the Institute, Bldr. A.L. Opoola; Executive Officers of the Kwara Branch of the Nigeria Institute of Building (NIOB), and other collaborators from the Industry.
