FEDPOFFA Management Meets SDC Staff, Tasks them on Teamwork, Integrity, Dedication

The Management led by the Rector, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE has charged staff members of Skill Development Centre of the Polytechnic to make integrity, team spirit, accountability and dedication to duty their watchwords.

Management gave the admonition   during an interactive meeting with SDC staff members in Rector's Office on Friday 15 December, 2023.

In his address, the Rector, Engr. Dr. Kadiri noted that the Skill Development Centre is an innovative idea of the Federal Government through National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and financed through Tertiary Education Trust  Fund (TETFUND).

Speaking further, he said the reason for the  programme is to entrench the vocational training in the polytechnics and allow the polytechnics to open their doors for training of the informal sector, hence offering dual awards of National Diplomas and National Skills Qualifications (NSQ).

However, he informed the team that though pioneering a new establishment is an enormous task yet the Management of the Polytechnic is expecting excellent results from them. 

Dr. Kadiri advised the team to work according to the mission and vision of the Federal Government and NBTE guidelines designed for the programme. He added that appointment done by the Management for the Centre was in accordance with the organogram given to the Polytechnic by NBTE. He tasked members to organize themselves and work with their Coordinator to achieve result.

Also speaking, Deputy Rector Administrations,  Dr. R. I. Salimonu enjoined the team to de-emphasize personality and be focused on working together as a team. He noted that SDC is a serious programme and the Polytechnic must not fail. He added that The trajectory is to make Nigerian youths learn skills rather than relying on their HND or Degree Certificates. 

Deputy Rector Academics, Dr. Mrs. M. B. Aliyu tasked the team to be committed to duty. She encouraged them to see their appointment as a privilege to serve the Polytechnic in that capacity adding that they must ensure the programme materialized and add value to the Polytechnic.

Responding on behalf the team, the Center Coordinator, Engr. Tech.  Alabi Abdullateef Olatunde appreciated the Management for the advice and encouragement. He assured the Management of the unwavering commitment of his team to make SDC the best platform for practical skills among its peers.
