The Federal Government has cautioned Vice-Chancellors, Provosts, and Rectors of tertiary institutions against operating unapproved satellite campuses. Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, stated that any institution found violating this directive would face strict sanctions.

The Minister directed the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) to ensure that all satellite campuses are established with prior approval. Institutions must meet academic, strategic, and infrastructural requirements before setting up new campuses.
