A final-year student at Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, has been fatally shot by suspected armed robbers. The victim, identified only as Saviour, was a student in the Electrical Electronics Department.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Saturday near Saviour’s former residence in Ikot Uboh, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area. According to sources, the robbers shot Saviour when he attempted to resist them by trying to retain his cellphone and raise an alarm.

The killing has caused significant fear among local residents. Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, stated that efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits. "The perpetrators will be apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law. It is the determination of CP Waheed Ayilara to rid Akwa Ibom State of criminal elements. And this is not negotiable," she said.
