A fire broke out early Thursday morning at the University of Ibadan’s Queens Hall, affecting the offices of the hall warden and secretary. No casualties or injuries were reported.

A fire outbreak early Thursday morning gutted the warden’s and secretary’s offices in Queens Hall at the University of Ibadan, with no casualties or injuries reported. Both the university and Oyo State Fire Services Agency confirmed the incident.

According to UI spokesperson Joke Akinpelu, the fire was confined to two offices on the upper floor of the building. Ms. Akinpelu assured the public that no lives were lost and stated that measures have been implemented to prevent future occurrences.

An anonymous student revealed that the fire likely began around 1:30 a.m. The prompt response of the fire service personnel helped to control the situation effectively.

General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Yemi Akinyinka, said the agency received a distress call at 1:43 a.m. from Miss Helen Ibikunle. “We immediately dispatched our team, and upon arrival, we confirmed the fire affected two offices. Property worth billions of Naira was saved,” Mr. Akinyinka stated.

The fire was successfully extinguished through collaborative efforts between the University of Ibadan Fire Service and the Oyo State Fire Services Agency. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

University authorities and fire service personnel continue to assess the damage while reinforcing preventive measures to safeguard lives and property on campus.
