FOA Intra-Faculty Football Competition: UG4 Beats UG2

In the early hours of Friday, October 27, 2023, the Faculty of Agriculture (FOA) of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, opened its Intra-Faculty Football Competition with a match between UG2 and UG4 students.

The match, which took place at the university stadium, kicked off at 8:40 am, and the two teams went on to hold their forts professionally as they throughout the match.

Before the end of the first half, the UG4 team opened the scoring by converting a direct free-kick into goal and sent their supporters into a frenzy.

Both teams resumed  the second half with utmost energy and ambition, looking to salvage a win from what was left of the match.

In the second half, the referee awarded a penalty kick to the UG4 team, but they failed to take advantage of it to double their lead.

However, the UG4 side didn't have to wait long for their second goal as they slotted the leather sphere into goal after an impressive buildup play.

Screams of "Goaaaoal" filled the stadium minutes later when a striker from the UG2 team scored a screamer to narrow their goal deficit to one.

The UG2 team pushed harder to even the scores but they failed to get past the rock solid defence of the rival team, who resisted their pressure until the game ended at 2:1 in favour of the UG4 side.

Reacting to the outcome of the match, the president of the National Association of Agricultural Students (NAAS), UDUS, Aminu Muhammad Ahmad, told this reporter that the game was fantastic. 

"Both teams displayed a sense of sportsmanship and enthusiasm in the game. UG2 team played an excellent game in the beginning, but UG4 team push it harder to take the lead," he commented.

Ahmad confessed that, despite being a UG4 student, he wanted the UG2 team to equalize because it would have made the game tougher and more interesting.
