In a heartwarming celebration, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, hosted a special dinner on October 19, 2024, in honor of the newly appointed Substantive Bursar of the University, Mr. Olukayode Osinuga. The event, which also marked Prof. Balogun’s birthday, was organized by his family to celebrate Mr. Osinuga's appointment and his remarkable journey of perseverance, patience, and dedication.

During the dinner, Prof. Balogun reflected on his close professional relationship with Mr. Osinuga, who served as Chief Accountant during his tenure as FUNAAB’s 4th Vice-Chancellor (2007-2012). He praised Mr. Osinuga’s commitment to the University, even while on Sabbatical Leave at the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) in Ondo State. Widely known as the "Architect of Modern FUNAAB," Prof. Balogun expressed his confidence in Mr. Osinuga’s successful tenure as Bursar.

The Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, also lauded Mr. Osinuga for his outstanding performance during the interview process for the Bursar position, emphasizing that his appointment was well-deserved and based on merit. Prof. Kehinde, FUNAAB’s 7th Substantive Vice-Chancellor, acknowledged Mr. Osinuga's excellence and previous service as Acting Bursar in 2013 and 2023.

The 6th Substantive Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Felix Kolawole Salako, added his praises, commending Mr. Osinuga for his unwavering support during his tenure. He referenced Psalm 126, likening Mr. Osinuga’s time on sabbatical as preparation for his current role. Prof. Salako also paid tribute to Prof. Balogun’s mentorship and leadership within the University community.

Mr. Osinuga, in his response, expressed his gratitude to Prof. Balogun and his family for the honor. He reflected on his career journey, which began in 1998 when he joined FUNAAB as Accountant I, and credited hard work and loyalty for his success. He thanked all the dignitaries for their presence and support and wished them continued celebrations in their personal lives.

Several distinguished guests delivered goodwill messages, including former Bursar, Mr. Moses Ilesanmi, and SSANU-FUNAAB Chairman, Comrade Olurotimi Fasunwon. The event concluded with a toast by Dr. Emmanuel Bankole, Acting Director of DUFARMS, and a vote of thanks from Dr. Abdussobur Salaam, Deputy Registrar I, Senate & Admissions.

The dinner was graced by prominent figures, including Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Kola Adebayo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Dr. Titus Adeniyi, Registrar-Designate, and Prof. Abayomi Owolabi, University Librarian. Other notable guests included Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUTECH), and Prof. Bisi Balogun, former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), among many others from academia and industry.
