From 3.6 to First Class: Meet Bukola Obe, FUTA’s Inspiring Animal Production Graduate
Bukola Obe has successfully completed her Bachelor of Technology in Animal Production and Health at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), graduating with First Class Honours during the 2025 academic session.
Obe finished her degree with a remarkable Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.57 out of 5.00, a feat that followed a journey of resilience and significant academic improvement.
Reflecting on her undergraduate years, Obe revealed that her start was modest. "I started with a CGPA of 3.6, which I honestly wasn’t proud of," she shared. However, a turning point occurred during her 200-level when she accidentally discovered a friend's result sheet—showing a 4.0 GPA—tucked inside a borrowed notebook.
That moment served as a catalyst for change. "That single moment became my motivation. Every time I opened my books, I reminded myself that excellence was possible and that I could reach it too," Obe stated.
Driven by this new resolve, her performance improved consistently each semester, ultimately propelling her into the First Class category by graduation. Her story has since gone viral within the academic community as a testament to the power of persistence and the ability to redefine one's academic path despite an initial slow start.
The FUTA School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology celebrates Bukola Obe as a trailblazer and a shining example of excellence for the 2025 graduating class.
