In a remarkable journey of determination and resilience, 35-year-old Zimbabwean woman Precious Sibalo has fulfilled her dream of becoming a certified pilot after 12 years of working as a flight waitress. Precious's aspiration to become a pilot began during a school trip where she noticed the absence of female pilots, inspiring her to pursue a career in a male-dominated field.

Despite facing setbacks, including the loss of her mother at a young age and becoming a parent herself, Precious worked tirelessly to overcome challenges. Leaving her child in Zimbabwe with her grandparents, she moved to South Africa and later to Dubai, working as a waitress and part-time model before joining Qatar Airways.

While working as a flight attendant, Precious seized the opportunity to revive her dream of becoming a pilot. In 2017, she began her studies, saving money with the support of friends and family. Encouraged by Qatar Airways, she pursued pilot training at the 43 Air School in South Africa.

Now, holding an Airline Transport Pilot License, Precious reflects on her achievement: "After passing examinations, the school gives you a license and builds your experience. It’s time for you to explore the skies. That’s the best because I can take an aircraft and fly on my own, and it’s liberating."
