FULafia Professor Identifies Root Causes of Terrorism in Nigeria

Prof. Elijah Ojochonu Okpanachi, a Professor of Social and Political Philosophy at the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), has identified unemployment, poverty, socio-economic inequality, corruption, and weak institutions as the major root causes of terrorism and other forms of criminality in Nigeria.

He made this assertion during his 32nd Inaugural Lecture, titled "The Paradox of Unsocial Sociability of Man: The Root of Terrorism, Banditry and Kidnapping in Nigeria."

Prof. Okpanachi emphasized that poverty is the mother of all crimes, and Nigeria's precarious socio-economic conditions make it challenging to keep citizens away from corruption and criminal tendencies.
