FULafia to collaborate with NBRRI for mutual benefits

The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) is set to partner with the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI) in the areas of research and development.

This arrangement was made known when the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, lead delegation to the NBRRI Headquarters in Abuja, recently. 

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Partnerships, Prof. Samaila Usman Dakyes, the vice-chancellor said the Management of FULafia, in order to hasten the development of the University, opted to collaborate with some critical institutions like the NBRRI.

Describing the institute as an important partner in the development of the University,  Abdul Rahman listed areas of collaboration between the two institutions to include training of students, research, entrepreneurial development, staff training, especially in building, engineering and industrial design.

Receiving the FULafia delegation in his office, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NBRRI, Prof. Samson Duna, hailed the FULafia Management under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman for strategically repositioning the University and improving its visibility.

Duna, while thanking the vice-chancellor and members of his team for the visit, said that his institution highly appreciated their coming.

The meeting is expected to result in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions soon.

The Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI) is a government institute responsible for researching and developing road and building materials for the Nigerian building industry. The institute is under the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology of Nigeria.

In a similar development, the FULafia team also visited the System Strategy and Policy Lab (SSPL), in Abuja, to explore areas of positive collaboration.

The team was received by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of SSPL, Dr. M.M. Adogi.

 

Those who accompanied the vice-chancellor on the visit included Dr. Mohammed Kabir Dahiru, the Director of Linkages and Advancement, and the Alumni Relations Officer,  Abdullahi Abubakar Sadiq.
