FULafia V-C commends Gov Sule for investment in tech edu
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has commended the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, for the massive investment in vocational and technical education by the Nasarawa State Government.
Abdul Rahman gave the commendation when he led Management staff of FULafia on a visit to the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, Lafia, Nasarawa State.
He said that they were in the institute to discuss modalities for the training of 50 first class graduates of the Federal University of Lafia.
Describing the state-of-the-art equipment at the institute as the best that could be found in any part of the world, Abdul Rahman said history would remember Governor Sule kindly for his foresight and investment in the institute.
He said that there cannot be sustainable national development without vocational and technical education, adding that the University was pleased to be associated with the institute.
The vice-chancellor expressed the readiness of the University to continue to partner with the institute in the training of its staff and students.
Receiving Abdul Rahman and his team in his office, the Executive Director of the institute, Dr Daniel Ewuga, said that the mandate of the institute was to train citizens of Nasarawa State in employable, contemporary and marketable skills.
He said that the institute currently conducts training in 40 trades areas that are highly sought after.
It would be recalled that the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has rewarded 50 first class graduates of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) with a one-month skills acquisition training at the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technical Institute in Lafia.
The governor also announced a start-up capital of N500,000 to each of the students after the completion of their training to enable them to establish their business.
Governor Sule made the offer at the occasion of the 6th, 7th and 8th combined convocation ceremonies of FULafia, in Lafia.
He said that the graduates have the opportunity to undergo a one-month training at the vocational and technical institute where they can choose among 12 different areas of skills that included welding and fabrication, air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical installation and carpentry.
