FULafia VC, Abdul Rahman, Bids Farewell, Declares "My Work Here is Done"
Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), has expressed satisfaction with the progress made during his tenure, stating that he has attended to all issues outlined in his 13-point blueprint for the university.
Speaking at the 92nd Regular Senate Meeting, Abdul Rahman revealed that he is eager to leave office, having achieved his planned objectives. He attributed his decision to take on the vice-chancellorship role to three main reasons: serving God, spreading messages of unity, peace, and progress, and adding value to individuals.
Abdul Rahman, who assumed office in 2021, had set a goal to make FULafia one of the top five universities in Africa. He expressed confidence that with commitment and dedication from staff and students, this goal is achievable.
As he prepares to proceed on terminal leave in November, Abdul Rahman has outlined activities to keep him busy and has opened a file for issues to be passed on to his successor. He urged Senate members to start filling gaps created by his withdrawal and expressed his desire not to leave liabilities behind.
