Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) Vice-Chancellor, Prof Mohammed Isa Kida, has disclosed that the university is actively exploring alternative funding sources to accelerate institutional development and strengthen its long-term sustainability.

Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) Vice-Chancellor, Prof Mohammed Isa Kida, has disclosed that the university is actively exploring alternative funding sources to accelerate institutional development and strengthen its long-term sustainability.

He made this known during a two-day extended management retreat for senior university officials held at the Committee of Vice-Chancellors Centre in Abuja.

Prof Kida emphasized the need for prudent resource management, transparency, and accountability, noting that these principles are critical to positioning the university for improved performance and competitive standing in Nigeria’s higher education system.

He urged staff to embrace teamwork, excellence, and strict adherence to due process, stating that such values are essential for enhancing institutional reputation and academic quality.

According to him, the university aims to build an environment where staff are motivated, students receive quality education, and research and innovation are effectively supported to thrive.

The vice-chancellor also highlighted ongoing efforts to diversify funding streams as part of broader strategies to reduce overdependence on conventional government allocations.

The retreat featured a keynote lecture delivered by former FULafia Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ekanem Ikpi Braide, titled “Leading with Integrity and Excellence: Twin Pillars for Quality Institutional Success,” which focused on ethical leadership and institutional performance.

In his opening remarks, the Registrar of the university, Dr Nuradeen Abdu, described the retreat as a platform for strengthening professional relationships among management staff and reinforcing core institutional values such as integrity, excellence, and commitment to duty.

He commended Prof Kida for initiating the retreat and reaffirmed his commitment to staff welfare and institutional development.

The retreat was attended by senior university officials, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellors for Academic Affairs, Administration, and Research and Partnerships: Prof Ilemona Adofu, Prof Aleruchi Chuku, and Prof Ibrahim Ogiri Hassan.
